This is an interesting photograph of General Custard ( I am not sure how to spell his name) and his wife. Her dress is really pretty!





This picture is one I found on the library of congress' website. The little girl all the way to the right's dress is the one that I am going to pattern my new dress after.

I really do love the photos and am excited to see your dresses firsthand. The detailing and material is very interesting. What percentage of people do you think owned these dressed during this time and what country were the materials generally orginating?

As to your question, I believe that only about 15% of all women wore the fancy dresses daily. Everyone owned a hoop skirt, but only 40% owned a fancy one. From all my intensive research, that is what I believe, but it may not be 100% accurate. Thanks so much!
